Guillermo Calvo Mahé is an academic, writer, political consultant and analyst focusing on United States, Colombian and international affairs and on how they apply in the Colombian context. He has published hundreds of articles on the Medium, Vocal, Common Dreams, and other alternative news websites, in Colombian news magazines such as Razon Publica and Eje 21, in the local newspaper, La Patria and other local and national periodicals. He participates regularly in radio and television interviews on diverse Colombian media, including RCN Radio, Caracol, UN Radio, UM Radio, Radio Condor, Telecafé, LPTV, etc. Until 2016 he chaired the Political Science, Government and International Relations programs at the Universidad Autónoma de Manizales where he taught constitutional theory, human rights, international and supranational law, government and comparative political systems, history of political ideas, and, North American studies. In addition to political and educational endeavors, he has been active for many years in entrepreneurial consulting focusing on emerging growth companies transitioning from local private companies into public companies with national and international operations, concentrating on strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance. His university degrees are in political science (The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina), law (St. John’s University, School of Law), international legal studies (New York University, School of Law, Graduate Division) and translation and linguistic studies (the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of Florida).
